Music therapy, past and present

in the past: relaxation and dance music, Musicians are playing for clients, often fitting to different day times and diseases.

today: Group-music improvisations, clients are playing for themselves under support of therapists, dialogs and group dynamic are been worked out on subjects of daily life.

In this seminar we will use different forms of musical interplay and will reflect on important life issues. We will finish with receptive Music therapy of Ottomans Maqam-music for relaxation.

An evening with Rumi
the great Sufi-master of the whirling derwishes

Rumi, who has left this world on 17.12. 1273 in Konya, had the strong influence on mystical poetry and music in the east.

In this evening we will listen to his words and some Ottoman compositions of the Mevlevi-derwish brotherhood will be played.







The tuessday public rehearsals of classical Turkish Makam music in the makamhane are still going on: every tuesday between 20.45 and 23.30 in the makamhane, Römergasse 21, 1160 Wien.
Exceptions will be announced separately.
There are no rehearsals between july and september.
